Report from Council
The College’s Council is the governing board of the College. The Council includes physician members elected by physicians and public members appointed by the College through a nominations process.
At its October 14, 2022 meeting, Dr. Melissa Broaders a hospitalist at Valley Regional Hospital was welcomed to Council. Dr. Patrick Holland was also welcomed as the Maritime Resident Doctors appointee to Council.
At its meeting Council approved a motion to retire the following professional standards:
- Professional Standard Regarding Care Directives in Aesthetic Medicine
- Professional Standard on Qualifications Required to Perform Certain Cosmetic Procedures in Nova Scotia
No Licence Fee Increase for 2023
Council also approved the licensing fee schedule for 2023. Despite the pressures of inflation, the Council approved a motion directing no increase in the licence fee for 2023. This is the fifth consecutive year in which the College has not raised its licence fee.
