Respectful Communication

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia is committed to communicating with you in a respectful, professional and civil manner. As such, we expect you to extend the same courtesy to our staff.

In an effort to ensure a safe and respectful workplace, the College will not accept abusive behaviour or communication towards our staff. This includes:

  • demeaning or harassing comments;
  • racist, discriminatory or obscene statements;
  • sexual harassment; and
  • raised voices and profanity.

Behaviour of this kind may result in the College communicating with you only in writing or otherwise restricting future communications with you.

Thank you for your cooperation with our respectful workplace practices.

Are you a member of the public?

The College’s Public Support Advisor, a trained social worker, is available to discuss concerns about the care provided by licensed physicians in Nova Scotia. They can:

  • provide information regarding the process for making medical records requests from a former physician;
  • answer questions regarding College standards and guidelines; and
  • help to navigate the College’s complaint process.

The College is unable to assist with access to care including access to test results or specialist referrals. If you are seeking information regarding wait times for referrals or various hospital procedures, please visit the Nova Scotia Wait Times website.

If you are seeking primary care, please call 811.
