Maintain Your Licence

All physicians who practise medicine in Nova Scotia must be registered as members of the College.

Your registration is valid for one year, from December 1 to November 30. You are required to maintain your licence though annual renewal each year in November.

If you choose not to renew your licence, or if you plan to close your medical practice, you are required to notify us.

Maintain Your Medical Corporation Permit

If you intend to practise or are practising medicine under a corporation you need a Medical Corporation Permit.

Medical Corporation Permits are valid from January through December and must be renewed every year. The cost is $150 the first time you apply.

We recommend that you get legal and tax advice before you set up your corporation. Lawyers and accountants can explain the conditions and requirements that will be placed on your corporation under the Medical Professional Corporations Act.
