Our Peer Reviewers
I love getting out with my peers and working with them and learning from them and I hope I have been able to give them good positive feedback.
– Peer Reviewer
Peer reviewers are physicians specifically trained to assess a physician’s performance in order to help continuously improve patient care.
Peer reviewers are selected through a comprehensive screening and recruiting process. Once selected, peer reviewers undergo a review of their own practice. Once successfully completed, physicians then begin their training to become peer reviewers.
Peer Reviewer Training
With an emphasis on education and continuous quality improvement, we make every effort to ensure the scope of practice of the peer reviewer is relevant to that of the physician they are reviewing. The peer reviewer is trained in the Practice Enhancement process so that no matter the physician’s scope of practice, the peer reviewer can assist a physician with establishing a Professional Learning Plan.
Peer reviewers use our competence, general assessment procedures, and tools to help physicians reflect on their practice and identify improvement opportunities. Reviewers also receive training in facilitating feedback, coaching, and assisting the physician to identify resources for practice improvement.
Peer reviewers play a key role in medical self-regulation by supporting physicians to meet high standards of practice throughout their professional lives.
