I Want to Observe Medical Practice
Observing medical practise can help you prepare for your Canadian licensing examinations or assessment of your skills and knowledge.
A Clinical Observership Permit lets you observe, learn, and gain insight into the practice of medicine in Nova Scotia under the supervision of a physician practising in a hospital or medical practice. As a clinical observer, you work with patients and see their private information. You must therefore possess qualifications and meet standards acceptable to the College.
You may apply for a Clinical Observership Permit if you:
- are not otherwise eligible to be licensed to practice medicine in Nova Scotia; or
- do not yet meet the requirements for a licence to practise medicine in Nova Scotia (medical student).
A clinical observership is not:
- a licence to practise medicine;
- considered as training or work experience; and/or
- part of your assessment for eligibility to practise medicine.
Read the College standard on Physician Responsibilities for Clinical Observers and their Practice.
