Report from Council & AGM
As a result of the March elections, Dr. Alyson Holland was re-elected to Council in District 5, county of Halifax, including HRM.
The Council expressed its appreciation to Ms. Michele Brennan, Ms. Mary Oxner and Mr. Mark Rosen having completed their terms as public members of Council. All have made significant and meaningful contributions to the work of the College.
The College extended thanks to all those who served on the Council and committees in the past year.
The following professional standards were also approved by Council:
- Professional Standards Regarding Virtual Care (revised)
- Professional Standards Regarding Conscientious Objections: While a new standard, this document pulls together obligations already in place in other College standards for ease of reference for physicians.
At the College’s 29th Annual General Meeting both the President’s and the Registrar’s Reports highlighted the efforts of the College to improve access to care by way of opening the door wider for the licensure of more competent physicians. In many cases, such efforts are leading the country.
The AGM also saw the presentation of the audited financial statements along with the appointment of Grant Thorton as the 2024 College auditors.
