August 1 is Emancipation Day
The College joins with Nova Scotians to commemorate Emancipation Day on August 1st.
Emancipation Day is the day the British parliament abolished slavery across its empire, including Canada on August 1st, 1834. It marks the end of the practice of slavery of African people and their descendants around the world.
