Revised Licensing Policies
Acceptable Alternatives to the LMCC
The Medical Council of Canada (MCC) announced the permanent cancellation of the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part II on June 8, 2021.
The MCC established new criteria for the Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC) designation as:
- a recognized medical degree;
- one year of verified postgraduate training; and
- a pass standing in the MCCQE Part I.
The College recognized the delays this would create for physicians. As such, the College’s Registration Policy Committee recommended to Executive an amended policy regarding acceptable alternatives to the LMCC. The Executive approved the amended policy on June 24, 2021.
Revised CPD Policy
There is now a more robust policy regarding Continuing Professional Development (CPD). This outlines CPD requirements and an approach for physicians struggling to meet the required amount of CPD.
This policy will be implemented during our annual licensing renewal this year.
