Late Fees for Medical Licence & Corporation Permit Renewal in Effect

Medical licence and corporation permit renewal was open for the month of November. Renewals received between December 1 and December 31, 2017 are now subject to the following late fees:

  • Medical licence renewal late fee: $462.50
  • Corporation permit renewal late fee: $25.00

If you are licensed to practise medicine in Nova Scotia, you must renew your medical licence. As per the Nova Scotia Medical Act, a medical licence expires if not renewed by January 1, 2018.

If you are a physician practising medicine under a corporation in which you are listed as a Medical Director, you must also renew your corporation permit. As per the Medical Professional Corporations Act, you cannot practise medicine under an expired corporate permit.

The College cannot guarantee applications received after December 11, 2017 will be processed before the December 30, 2017 deadline.

If you are permanently or temporarily closing a practice, you must comply with a number of statutory and regulatory requirements. Please also review the necessary steps to be undertaken if you are discontinuing your medical licence or corporation permit.
