Postgraduate Training Licence
Physicians undergoing postgraduate medical education at Dalhousie University are required to hold a Postgraduate Training Licence.
The basic requirements for a Postgraduate Training Licence with the College are:
- be a graduate from a university or school that meets criteria approved by the Council of the College;
- have examination(s) acceptable to Council (e.g., Medical Council of Canada Evaluating Examination; Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination – Part I; United States Medical Licensing Examination);
- be enrolled in a post-graduate or training program; elective training; or a clinical traineeship with Dalhousie University; and
- meet the College’s requirement for English Language Proficiency for Postgraduate Training and Fellowship.
Registrants on the Education Register as postgraduate trainees may not engage in the independent practise of medicine.
