Purpose
This policy sets out the source verification standards accepted by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
Policy
Primary‐source verification of qualifications is a fundamental part of credentialing. All documents provided to the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia must satisfy the Registrar.
The following documents must be source verified through physiciansapply.ca or provided directly to the College from the issuing institution.
- Medical diploma
- Postgraduate training certificates
- Certificates of specialty recognition
- Licentiate of the Medical Council of Canada (LMCC)
Exception
Physicians applying for registration through the Canadian Free Trade Agreement may submit copies of their credentials to the College.
This policy is effective as of March 27, 2020. Physicians licensed before March 27, 2020 will be held to the general and specific policies and language in place upon their initial licensure.
