Report from Council
The Council governs the affairs of the College in the public interest and in accordance with the Medical Act. It is composed of physician members elected by registrants and public members appointed by the College through a nominations process. Nova Scotia’s medical school holds a Council seat, and medical learners are represented as observers.
The College’s governing Council met on October 17. The Council welcomed the following new members:
- Ms. Kemi Olarotimi, Dalhousie Medical Students’ Society
- Dr. Stephen Miller, Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine
The following new professional standards were approved by Council:
- Professional Standards Regarding Temporarily or Permanently Closing a Medical Practice
- Professional Standards Regarding Virtual Care
- Professional Standards and Guidelines Regarding Collaborative Care
