College announces decision regarding Dr. Jacob Puthenparumpil

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that as a result of two complaints and pursuant to the Nova Scotia Medical Act, the Hearing Committee of the College approved a Settlement Agreement on April 26, 2019, with reasons to follow. Those reasons have now been issued and are available in the Committee’s written decision accessible below. The Settlement Agreement contains an admission of professional misconduct and agreed upon sanctions including reprimands, a one month suspension scheduled to commence on June 22, 2019 and a requirement for remedial education.

The College acknowledges that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship. We also acknowledge that people of African descent have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years, and we honour and offer gratitude to those ancestors.
