The College’s Council is the governing board of the College. The College’s Council and committees aim to provide a well-balanced and equitable approach to the regulation of medicine. The Council includes physician members elected by physicians and public members appointed by the College through a nominations process.

At its March 2023 meeting, Council approved the following professional standards:

The Council also recognized Ms. Caroline Straub, the Dalhousie Medical Students’ Society Appointee, for her contributions to Council.

The College acknowledges that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship. We also acknowledge that people of African descent have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years, and we honour and offer gratitude to those ancestors.
