The College’s governing Council met on December 12. The Council is composed of physician members elected by registrants and public members appointed by the College through a nominations process. Nova Scotia’s medical school holds a Council seat, and medical learners are represented as observers.
The Council governs the College in the public interest and in accordance with the Medical Act. At its December meeting, the following new professional standards were approved by Council:
- Professional standards and guidelines regarding ending the physician-patient relationship and reducing the size of a medical practice
- Professional standards regarding artificial intelligence (AI) scribes in clinical care
