Emancipation Day

The College joins with Nova Scotians to commemorate Emancipation Day on August 1st.  Emancipation Day marks the historic abolition of slavery by the British Parliament in 1834, ending the legal enslavement of African peoples across the British Empire. Each year, Canadians are called to reflect upon and to address anti-Black racism and discrimination. This day honours the strength, resilience, and enduring contributions of Black communities in Canada.

Update on Applications to PACE for Internationally Trained Physicians

The Physician Assessment Centre of Excellence (PACE) is a dedicated assessment centre and medical clinic designed to evaluate internationally trained physicians (ITPs) in office-based primary care. PACE serves as a pathway to independent licensure in Nova Scotia by ensuring candidates demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and judgment required to practice safely and ethically in Nova Scotia. Update on Applications to PACE Thank you for your interest in PACE. PACE is presently reviewing hundreds of applications. As such, PACE is not undertaking a broad call for further applications at this time.

June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day

On June 21, the College recognizes National Indigenous Peoples Day, a celebration of the rich cultures, histories, and contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across Canada.  The College values the important work of Tajikeimɨk Mi’kmaw Health and Wellness, which works towards health transformation for Mi’kmaq in Nova Scotia. The College recognizes Pride Month and celebrates the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Physicians in Nova Scotia play an important role in addressing the healthcare needs of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community with dignity and respect. The College recognizes the important contribution of NSH’s prideHealth which works to improve access to safe, coordinated and comprehensive care for people who are part of the 2SLGBTQIA+.
