The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that a Hearing Committee has issued a decision dated August 8, 2022, accepting a Settlement Agreement under subsection 103(1) of the Medical Act. In the Settlement Agreement, Dr. Ramirez-Morejon admitted to particulars of a pattern of conduct over a period of six months, which amounted to sexual harassment of a colleague in his workplace. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that as a result of a complaint and pursuant to the Nova Scotia Medical Act, Dr. George Richardson has agreed to a six-month suspension of his registration and medical license. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that a Hearing Committee has issued a decision dated November 23, 2021, accepting a Settlement Agreement under subsection 103(1) of the Medical Act. College announces Decision Regarding Dr. Harvey Damacen

The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that  a Hearing Committee has issued a decision dated March 5, 2021, accepting a Settlement Agreement under subsection 103(1) of the Medical Act.    The Hearing Committee accepted the following sanctions: Dr. Damacen is reprimanded;Dr. Damacen’s certificate of registration shall be suspended for a period of nine(9) months, less 17 days for time served in 2018; andDr. Damacen’s period of suspension will be served beginning December 1, 2020, and ending August 15, 2021.

The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that  a Hearing Committee has issued a decision dated December 14, 2020, accepting a Settlement Agreement under subsection 103(1) of the Medical Act.    In the Settlement Agreement, Dr. Najeeb Kadir, of Amherst, Nova Scotia admitted to engaging in a sexual relationship with a patient, and that such conduct constituted professional misconduct and conduct unbecoming. The College of Physicians & Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that as a result of two complaints and pursuant to the Nova Scotia Medical Act, an independent Hearing Committee has found Dr. Manivasan Moodley engaged in professional misconduct.  The decision is available here. College Announces Decision Regarding Dr. Sarah Jones

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that as a result of a complaint and pursuant to the Nova Scotia Medical Act, the Hearing Committee of the College approved a Settlement Agreement on June 26, 2019, with reasons to follow. Those reasons have now been issued and are available in the Committee’s written decision (PDF). The Settlement Agreement contains Dr. Jones’ admissions of professional misconduct, incompetence, and incapacity. A Hearing Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia has released its disposition in the case of Dr. Enyiannaya Ezema, pursuant to Sections 53 and 115 of the Nova Scotia Medical Act. College announces disposition in Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashoranti case

A Hearing Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia has released its disposition in the case of Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashoranti, a family medicine specialist from Pugwash, Nova Scotia, pursuant to Section 66(2) (e) of the Nova Scotia Medical Act. On September 27, 2013, the Committee released a decision that found Dr. Fashoranti guilty of professional misconduct arising from a violation of patient/physician boundaries. The Hearing Committee found that Dr. Fashoranti had engaged in an inappropriate examination of a female patient. Following a resumption of the Hearing in March 2014 where counsel for the College and counsel for Dr. Fashoranti made submissions respecting an appropriate disposition, the College’s Hearing Committee issued its decision dated May 12th as follows:

College Announces Disposition in Dr. Stani Osif Case

A Hearing Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia has released its disposition in the case of Dr. Stani Osif, a family medicine specialist from Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia. On January 18, 2008, the Committee released a decision that found Dr. Osif guilty of charges relating to a disciplinary matter that constitute professional misconduct and professional incompetence pursuant to Section 66(2)(e) of the Nova Scotia Medical Act. The disposition suspends Dr. Osif’s license to practice medicine until she has satisfactorily completed a program of medical re-education at her own expense and passes the Canadian College of Family Physicians certification examination.
