College announces decision regarding Dr. Heather McNally of Halifax

On April 26, 2011, a Hearing Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia accepted a Settlement Agreement advanced by the College and Dr. Heather McNally, and recommended by an Investigation Committee of the College pursuant to Section 57 of the Nova Scotia Medical Act. A prior interim suspension of Dr. McNally’s license is lifted. She is permitted to return to practice upon meeting prescribed conditions and once licensed, her practice will be subject to restrictions. College issues consensual reprimand to Dr. Mark Riley of Shelburne

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that as a result of a complaint and pursuant to Section 53 (12) (h) of the Medical Act, Dr. Mark Riley of Shelburne has accepted a reprimand issued by the College. College issues consensual reprimand to Dr. Dave Wong of Sydney

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that as a result of a complaint and pursuant to Section 53 (12) (h) of the Medical Act, Dr. Dave Wong of Sydney has accepted a reprimand issued by the College. College releases disciplinary decision regarding Dr. Stephen Harley

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that Dr. Stephen Harley, a general practitioner in Dartmouth, has agreed to allegations regarding his breech of a 2008 settlement agreement with the College, and that these allegations constitute a disciplinary matter. As part of the settlement agreement, Dr. Harley is permanently prohibited from prescribing narcotics and other controlled substances. College suspends medical license of Dr. Heather McNally of Halifax

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Medical Act, Dr. Heather McNally of Halifax, Nova Scotia has been suspended from the practice of medicine on an interim basis commencing July 23, 2010 until further notice.

College revokes medical license of Dr. Stani Osif of Sydney Mines, Nova Scotia

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia announced today that the medical license of Dr. Stani Osif of Sydney Mines was revoked as of June 27, 2010 because Dr. Osif had failed to comply with conditions imposed by a Hearing Committee on June 26, 2008. In its decision, the Committee specified that Dr. Osif was required, within two years of its decision, to successfully complete a College-approved medical re-education program, including passing the Canadian College of Family Physicians Certification Examinations. The Committee indicated that a failure to meet these conditions would lead to the revocation of Dr. Osif's medical license and the removal of her name from the Nova Scotia medical register. College suspends license of Dr. Judith Mills of Halifax

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Medical Act, Dr. Judith Mills of Halifax has been suspended from the practice of medicine on an interim basis commencing April 28, 2010 until further notice.

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that as a result of a complaint and pursuant to Section 53 (12) (h) of the Medical Act, Dr. Abdulrahim Alawashez of Halifax has accepted a reprimand issued by the College. College suspends license of Dr. Violet Hawes of Musquodoboit Harbour

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Medical Act, Dr. Violet Hawes of Middle Musquodoboit Nova Scotia has been suspended on an interim basis from the practice of medicine commencing November 27, 2009 until further notice.

College releases disciplinary decision regarding Dr. Stephen Harley

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that in accordance with the agreed terms of a Settlement Agreement approved on December 19, 2008, conditions and restrictions have been placed on the licence of Dr. Harley, including the suspension of Dr. Harley’s narcotics prescribing privileges until October 1, 2009 or such later time as determined by Health Canada.
