Notice of Hearing regarding Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashoranti of Pugwash

A Hearing Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia will reconvene to consider submissions on penalty, arising from the Hearing Committee’s decision dated September 27, 2013 concerning Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashoranti, a family physician from Pugwash, Nova Scotia. The Hearing will take place at the College offices (Suite 5005, 7071 Bayers Road, Halifax) on March 18, 2014 commencing at 1 p.m. Hearings of the College of Physicians and Surgeons are open to the public except when, upon application by a party involved, the Hearing Committee determines that all or part of the proceedings should be closed. Notice re: Dr. William R. Vitale

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that pursuant to Section 54 of the Nova Scotia Medical Act, Investigation Committee "B" of the College, by decision dated January 22, 2014, has continued the restriction on Dr. Vitale’s medical licence, prohibiting him from administering any vaccines, or authorizing the administration of vaccines.Apart from this ongoing restriction, Dr. Vitale’s medical licence is reinstated, effective immediately.

Important Notice re. Dr. William Vitale, Halifax

The medical licence of Dr. William Vitale has been suspended until further notice, effective December 13, 2013. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia has identified concerns regarding the effectiveness of Dr. Vitale’s practice with respect to the immunization of children. The College encourages the families of children vaccinated by Dr. Vitale to contact their family doctor, other health care provider, or call 811 to determine if re-vaccination is required. Notice re: Dr. Curtis Steele

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that pursuant to Section 54(1) of the Nova Scotia Medical Act, the medical licence of Dr. Curtis Steele of Halifax is suspended until further notice.

Notice re. Dr. Martin Dzierzanowski

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that pursuant to Section 54 of the Nova Scotia Medical Act, the restrictions on Dr. Dzierzanowski’s licence to practise medicine, previously ordered by the College’s Investigation Committee on November 8, 2012, have been lifted effective October 10, 2013, and replaced with the following condition:Dr. Dzierzanowski may practise general surgery (including pre-operative consultations, operative and post-operative care) upon terms as directed by the College.

College announces decision regarding Dr. Stephen Harley

A Hearing Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia has accepted a Settlement Agreement advanced by the College and Dr. Stephen Harley and recommended by an Investigation Committee of the College pursuant to Section 57 of the Nova Scotia Medical Act. Dr. Harley has admitted to the allegations set out in the Notice of Hearing and agrees that they constitute a disciplinary matter within the meaning of the Act. Dr. Harley has consented to a reprimand for professional misconduct, a retroactive suspension, a requirement that certain conditions be met before the suspension is lifted, and significant conditions and restrictions upon his return to practice. Notice of Hearing: Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashoranti of Pugwash

A Hearing Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia will convene to examine allegations against Dr. Oluwarotimi Fashoranti, a family physician from Pugwash, Nova Scotia. The Hearing will take place at the College offices (Suite 5005, 7071 Bayers Road, Halifax) on July 23, 24 and 25, 2013, commencing at 9:30 am each day. Hearings of the College of Physicians and Surgeons are open to the public except when, upon application by a party involved, the Hearing Committee determines that all or part of the proceedings should be closed. Please note that audio and video recording are not permitted at College Hearings. No further information about this Hearing is currently available for release.

Dr. George Richardson licence reinstatement

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia has reinstated the medical licence of Dr. George Richardson pursuant to section 69 (1) of the Nova Scotia Medical Act.The College is satisfied that Dr. Richardson has appropriately addressed concerns related to the revocation of his medical licence on February 15, 2011. Dr. Richardson may return to medical practice in a supervised setting only. He is restricted from prescribing narcotics and controlled substances.

College announces lifting of Dr. Dinesh Sinha interim licence suspension

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that pursuant to Section 54 of the Nova Scotia MedicalAct, the December 14, 2012 interim suspension of Dr. Dinesh Sinha’s medical licence has been lifted effective March 5, 2013.Patients should contact Dr. Sinha directly.
