College Announces Decision Regarding Dr. Samuel Chun

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia hereby gives notice that as a result of two complaints and pursuant to the Nova Scotia Medical Act, Dr. Samuel Chun has entered into a Settlement Agreement in which he agreed to a reprimand and a one month suspension. A Hearing Committee approved the Settlement Agreement at a hearing on March 11, 2019.  The Hearing Committee agreed that the Settlement Agreement is in the best interests of the public and the profession with full reasons to follow.  Dr. Chun’s suspension begins on March 18, 2019. College Announces Decision Regarding Dr. Juan Rivas

The College gives notice of a Settlement Agreement reached between the College and Dr. Juan Rivas, approved by the Hearing Committee of the College. The Hearing Committee orally approved the Settlement Agreement, with an agreed upon amendment, on January 18, 2019 and issued its written decision on February 5, 2019. The Settlement Agreement results in a three month suspension for Dr. Rivas.  This suspension began on January 18, 2019. College Announces Decision Regarding Dr. Enyinnaya Ezema

A Hearing Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia has released its disposition in the case of Dr. Enyiannaya Ezema, pursuant to Sections 53 and 115 of the Nova Scotia Medical Act. On September 17, 2017, the Committee found Dr. Ezema guilty of professional misconduct having breached professional and/or sexual boundaries arising from inappropriate comments and conduct toward two professional colleagues. The Hearing Committee resumed January, 2018 to hear submissions prepared by the College and counsel for Dr. Ezema regarding the penalty to be imposed. College Announces Decision Regarding Dr. Bradley Atkinson

The College gives notice of a Settlement Agreement reached between the College and Dr. Bradley Atkinson, approved by the Hearing Committee of the College on May 31, 2018. The written decision of the Hearing Committee with reasons for the approval of the Settlement Agreement will be provided when available and published on the College’s website when released. The effect of this Settlement Agreement is to immediately lift the suspension of Dr. Atkinson’s license to practise medicine imposed in June, 2016, permitting him to return to practice under restrictions as listed in the Settlement Agreement.
