Legislation and bylaws

Medical Act & Regulations

The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia serves the public by effectively regulating the province’s physicians, surgeons, podiatrists, and physician assistants in accordance with the Nova Scotia Medical Act and its regulations.

Bylaws

The College’s bylaws provide direction on our day-to-day operations, in addition to supplying guidelines that determine how Council functions (e.g., management of committees, nominations, elections, and the annual general meeting).

The College acknowledges that we are in Mi’kma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq people. This territory is covered by the Treaties of Peace and Friendship. We also acknowledge that people of African descent have been in Nova Scotia for over 400 years, and we honour and offer gratitude to those ancestors.
